Spice Girls Will Reunite in an Animated Superhero Movie

Marvel and DC may have some new competition coming their way now that a Spice Girls Animated Superhero Movie is being planned. It was revealed a few weeks ago that the original Spice Girls, including Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) had gotten together to discuss future business, which may or may not result in a world tour. However, a new report reveals that all 5 of the Spice Girls have signed off on a new animated superhero movie that is currently being shopped around.

According to sources close to the project, all 5 of the original Spice Girls have come to an agreement for the superhero project and have allowed for their likenesses being used. Additionally, all 5 of the women will voice their respective characters in the upcoming superhero movie. Each member of the group will have a power that corresponds to their image and personality, which will then find the Spice Girlssuperheroes working together to fight evil, like the Justice League.

The girls are reportedly all “fired up” about the animated Spice Girls superhero movie and what it can mean for their brand all over the world. As far as shopping the project around, the source claimed that, “It’s just what Marvel or Disney needs.” Now, that’s debatable, but the Spice Girls are arguably the most successful girl group on the planet. Will we see Posh Spice fighting alongside the Black Panther in the future? Probably not, but the Spice Girls will undoubtedly find success with another studio looking to put out an animated superhero film based off of the Girl Power message.

As for the aforementioned Spice Girls world tour, those rumors have been silently starting to fade away after Victoria Beckham denied that they were in talks for a full-scale tour. But, that doesn’t mean that some shows or even new recordings won’t happen in the future. If the Spice Girls animated superhero movie gets picked up, the women will more than likely end up in the studio to record some new songs for the soundtrack, which would be huge news for fans. It’s been over 20 years since all 5 of the original group were in the studio together.

Talk of the Spice Girls animated superhero movie comes at the perfect time. Superhero movies are bigger now than they have ever been, and so is the idea of Girl Power, though it’s taken on a drastically more serious tone since the Spice Girls first adopted it. Fans of the girl group from the beginning now have children of their own and are ready to introduce a whole new generation of women to the Spice Girls and the ideas behind the Girl Power movement, and give long time fans the follow-up to Spice World that they’ve always wanted. More news is expected to be released soon regarding the status of the Spice Girls animated superhero movie, but until then, you can read more about the project at Variety.
